Psalm 100 (A Psalm Of Thanksgiving)

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
serve the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful song.
Know that the LORD is God,
he made us, we belong to him,
we are his people, the flock he shepherds.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name;
good indeed is the LORD,
His mercy endures forever,
his faithfulness lasts through every generation.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Zimak Family (Eileen, Gary, Mary and Elizabeth). We are grateful for your support and prayers through the years. May God continue to bless you today and every day!

The Total Consecration Prayer Of St. Louis de Montfort

Catholic speaker and author Gary Zimak is available to speak at your parish or conference

Congratulations to everyone who has completed the 33 day preparation for Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary! It is a BIG accomplishment and you definitely deserve to be commended for your perseverance. In order to officially consecrate yourself to Jesus through Mary, please recite the following prayer. While it is strongly recommended that you perform the consecration at Mass (after Communion), it isn’t an absolute necessity.

Consecration of Oneself to Jesus Christ, Wisdom Incarnate,
Through the Hands of Mary
(St. Louis de Montfort’s Consecration Prayer)

Eternal and incarnate Wisdom, most lovable and adorable Jesus, true God and true man, only Son of the eternal Father and of Mary always Virgin, I adore you profoundly, dwelling in the splendor of your Father from all eternity, and in the virginal womb of Mary, your most worthy Mother, at the time of your Incarnation.

I thank you for having emptied yourself in assuming the condition of a slave to set me free from the cruel slavery of the evil one.

I praise and glorify you for having willingly chosen to obey Mary, your holy Mother, in all things, so that through her I may be your faithful slave of love.

But I must confess that I have not kept the vows and promises which I made to you so solemnly at my baptism. I have not fulfilled my obligations, and I do not deserve to be called your child or even your slave.

Since I cannot lay claim to anything except what merits your rejection and displeasure, I dare no longer approach the holiness of your majesty on my own. That is why I turn to the intercession and the mercy of your holy Mother, whom you yourself have given me to mediate with you. Through her I hope to obtain from you contrition and pardon for my sins, and that Wisdom whom I desire to dwell in me always.

I turn to you, then, Mary Immaculate, living tabernacle of God, in whom Eternal wisdom willed to receive the adoration of both men and angels.

I greet you as Queen of heaven and earth, for all that is under God has been made subject to your sovereignty.

I call upon you, the unfailing refuge of sinners, confident in your mercy that has never forsaken anyone.

Grant my desire for divine Wisdom and, in support of my petition, accept the promises and the offering of myself which I now make, conscious of my unworthiness.

I ___________________, an unfaithful sinner, renew and ratify today through you my baptismal promises. I renounce forever Satan, his empty promises, and his evil designs, and I give myself completely to Jesus Christ, the incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him for the rest of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have been till now.

This day, with the whole court of heaven as witness, I choose you, Mary, as my Mother and Queen. I surrender and consecrate myself to you, body and soul, as your slave, with all that I possess, both spiritual and material, even including the value of all my good actions, past, present, and to come. I give you the full right to dispose of me and all that belongs to me, without any reservations, in whatever way you please, for the greater glory of God in time and throughout eternity.

Accept, gracious Virgin, this little offering of my slavery to honor and imitate the obedience which Eternal Wisdom willingly chose to have towards you, his Mother. I wish to acknowledge the authority which both of you have over this pitiful sinner. By it, I wish also to thank God for the privileges bestowed on you by the Blessed Trinity. I declare that for the future, I will try to honor and obey you in all things, as your true slave of love.

O admirable Mother, present me to your dear Son as His slave, now and for always, so that He who redeemed me through you, will now receive me through you.

Mother of mercy, grant me the favor of obtaining the true Wisdom of God, and so make me one of those whom you love, teach and guide, whom you nourish and protect as your children and slaves.

Virgin most faithful, make me in everything so committed a disciple, imitator, and slave of Jesus, your Son, incarnate Wisdom, that I may become, through your intercession and example, fully mature with the fullness which Jesus possessed on earth, and with the fullness of His glory in heaven. Amen.

A New Catholic Morning Radio Show For Philadelphia!

Get Ready, Philly…

Your Mornings Are About To Get A Little Brighter!

Catholic Speaker Gary Zimak to host Spirit In The Morning On Holy Spirit Radio in Phialdelphia

I am very excited! As you probably know, I was born and raised in Philadelphia and have been eating soft pretzels, Tastykakes and cheesesteaks for as long as I can remember. I have experienced many ups and downs with the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers. I know and love the City of Brotherly Love!

Despite being ranked as the ninth largest radio market (according to the July 2016 Neilsen Audio Ratings), Philadelphia has never had a local Catholic morning radio show. That will change on October 10, 2016 when Spirit In The Morning comes to Holy Spirit Radio in Philadelphia!

Every Monday thru Friday at 7 AM Eastern, I’ll help you to start your day with a mix of music, Scripture and inspiration. And you better believe that I’ll offer hope to my fellow “worriers”! This is a show that I have wanted to do for a long time and soon it will become a reality. If you’re outside of the Philadelphia area, the show will stream live on Holy Spirit Radio and TuneIn Radio.

Finally, if you’re wondering about how this will affect my work as a full time Catholic evangelist, the answer is that nothing will change. I will still be traveling around the country giving talks and leading parish missions. I will still host The Gary Zimak Show on BlogTalkRadio and continue to do my various Catholic TV and Radio interviews. And my next book, Stop Worrying And Start Living! will be released in the Fall. Spirit In The Morning is just another way for me to spread the Good News.

Please keep me in your prayers as I get ready to begin this new project. I have a feeling that the Holy Spirit is up to something exciting!

Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary – What Are You Waiting For?

Catholic speaker Gary Zimak leads Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary on his daily podcast

Listen to internet radio with Gary Zimak on Blog Talk Radio

?I have said that this devotion may rightly be called a perfect renewal of the vows or promises of holy Baptism.? (St. Louis de Montfort)

Are you ready to renounce Satan and his works, renew and ratify your baptismal promises and make a total donation of your life to Jesus? If so, Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary is just what you need!

What exactly is this devotion all about? Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary was popularized by Saint Louis de Montfort (1673 ? 1716), a French priest who stated that ?this devotion, faithfully practiced, is an excellent means of making sure that the value of all our good works shall be employed for the greater glory of God.?

Over the past five years, I have led close to 4,000 individuals through this process on my nightly podcast. Here are some of their comments:

I cannot thank you enough for doing this. Listening to your explanations is a big help for me. I also appreciate being able to say the prayers along with you because I get so easily distracted. Not to say that it still does not happen, but it would be a lot worse if I was doing it on my own. I have lots of areas that need improvement, but I feel confident with the Blessed Mother at my side I can do it in baby steps.

Thank you for all your help. Just wanted you to know that my husband and I are still with you and plan on making this Consecration next week. It has changed MY life in so many ways.

Thank you so much for doing this?it is very helpful to do it in a group ?this is a huge mental commitment and a leap of faith but I find your encouragement extremely inspiring!

You are doing so much good with this consecration. I would not even be doing this myself if I had not heard you on Ave Maria Radio (while I was working on the house!). You are blessing so many through your encouragement with this devotion and your thoughtful support of those who are encountering difficulties.

On Sunday, September 4, 2016 we will once again begin the 33 day period of preparation which will result in consecrating (or re-consecrating) ourselves to Jesus through Mary on October 7 and I am inviting as many of you as possible to make this consecration along with me.

This year, I am doing it in a completely unique and exciting way. Instead of using one particular book, I will be selecting our daily meditations from “The Best Of The Best” preparation methods (including books by Fr. Michael Gaitley, Fr. Hugh Gillespie and others). All of these daily meditations will be compared with St. Louis de Montfort’s guidelines to ensure that you are getting the best possible preparation.

The Total Consecration is divided into themes:

(Days 1-12) The Spirit of the World ? We concentrate on casting off the spirit of the world, which is contrary to the spirit of Jesus Christ.

(Days 13-19) Knowledge of Self ? The focus is on seeing ourselves as God sees us and looking at the effects of our sins.

(Days 20-26) Knowledge of Mary ? In order to imitate Mary?s desire to always follow God?s will, we must get to know her.

(Days 27-33) Knowledge of Jesus ? In preparation for making our Total Consecration, we?ll study the life of Jesus.

Day 34: Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary.

If you?re interested in joining me, I recommend that you listen to a 30 minute introductory podcast HERE. This will give you an idea of what to expect. Other than that, there’s nothing else you need to do – no book to purchase, no fee, no need to even leave your home. If you need a reminder, I recommend that you sign up for my email newsletter (see the sidebar to the right of this page). Beginning on September 4th, there will be a podcast available each day (by 8 PM each evening). The length of the shows will be 30 minutes (M-F) and 15 minutes (Sat-Sun). You can download the podcasts free of charge from BlogTalkRadio, iTunes or TuneIn Radio. Or you can listen to the podcast directly from my website by clicking HERE.

Please share this invitation with as many people as you can. There is no cost and no vows are involved. You?re simply expressing the desire to become a better person and taking advantage of Mary?s help. It?s a great deal!

Through the years, Total Consecration has changed many lives. Don’t just take my word for it, however. Give it a try and see what happens in your life.

See you on September 4th!

A 2 Second Prayer That Will Change Your Life!

Catholic speaker and author Gary Zimak will be leading a Pray, Hope and Don't Worry at the Malvern Retreat House in 2016

Catholic speaker and author Gary Zimak offers advice for inviting the Holy Spirit to work in your life.

The Fruits Of The Holy Spirit

Here’s something to think about. The Church teaches that we first receive the Holy Spirit when we are baptized and that the gift is completed when we are confirmed. In Galatians 5:22-23, Saint Paul informs us that the fruits of the Holy Spirit are “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”. If the Spirit does indeed reside in us, why is it that so many of His fruits are not evident in our life?

As is the case with so many of the spiritual gifts, we do not receive because we do not ask (James 1:5). God will not force His way into our lives. The fact that the Holy Spirit lives in us doesn’t automatically mean that His gifts will blossom. We need to give Him permission to do His thing!

Where Do We Begin?

So where do we begin? We begin by inviting the Holy Spirit to work in our life. Jesus assures us that our Heavenly Father will not deny this request:

?And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish? Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the holy Spirit to those who ask him?? (Luke 11:9-13)

The 2 Second Prayer

Now, before you think this is a complicated process, let me assure you that it is not. Unleashing the power of the Holy Spirit in your life can be done with a 3 word prayer. This prayer will take no more than 2 seconds to pray. It is so simple that we can write it off as being too trivial. If you pray it as soon as you wake up and throughout the day, you will see tremendous results. It might not happen overnight, but the fruits of the Holy Spirit will eventually be evident in your life. What is that 3 word, 2 second prayer that will change your life?

Come, Holy Spirit!

It Sounds Too Simple!

Let’s be honest, we often have a tendency to complicate spiritual matters. If something sounds too simple, we somehow feel that it won’t be effective. This is nothing new. Do you remember the story of Naaman the Syrian (2 Kings 5:1-27)? A commander of the army of the king of Syria, Naaman was a leper. When Elisha the prophet informed him that washing in the Jordan seven times would cure his leprosy, Naaman was not pleased:

But Naaman went away angry, saying, ?I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand there to call on the name of the LORD his God, and would move his hand over the place, and thus cure the leprous spot. Are not the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be cleansed?? With this, he turned about in anger and left. (2 Kings 5:11-12)

Viewing Elisha’s instructions as too simplistic, the leper wanted to ignore them. But when his servants convinced him to follow the prophet’s instructions, Naaman’s flesh was restored and the leprosy was gone. Prayer doesn’t have to be long and convoluted in order to be effective. If my wife needs me to help her with something, all she has to do is tell me to come over. Why wouldn’t God be able to operate in the same way? If we want the Holy Spirit to become active in our life, all we have to do is ask!

Give it a try and see what happens. Start praying the 2 second prayer each day. If you want, you can modify the prayer to something like, “Holy Spirit, please guide all my thoughts, words, actions, interactions and decisions today.” Keep praying it faithfully and then watch for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control to be more evident in your life. I have a feeling you will be very pleased with the results!

How Mother Angelica And EWTN Saved My Life

Catholic speaker and author Gary Zimak is available to speak at your parish or conference

Catholic speaker and author Gary Zimak at EWTN studios

On May 2, 2014, I was invited to give a talk to a group of Catholic leaders in Birmingham, AL. In attendance were many of my heroes, including Catholic TV/Radio personalities, EWTN executives and founders of Catholic ministries from around the world. At first, I was overwhelmed. What could I possibly offer to these individuals? I was relatively new to full time ministry and (in my opinion) hardly successful. Since the conference was sponsored by EWTN, I decided to talk about Mother Angelica and how she inspired me to get to know Jesus and to respond when I felt Him calling me to full time ministry. I shared how Mother helped me to keep going, even when I felt like quitting. As a tribute to the life of Mother Angelica, I am sharing a transcript of my talk with you. Even if you are not involved in full time ministry, there is a message here for you. Jesus loves you and wants to be your friend. He is the answer to any problem you will ever face and through Him you can have eternal life in Heaven. As you grow closer to the Lord, you may be asked to carry a cross or take on a task that seems impossible. That is never the case. The life of Mother Angelica gives us proof that all things are possible with God!

Walking By Faith With Mother Angelica

(Transcript of a talk by Gary Zimak to a gathering of Catholic leaders in Birmingham, AL on May 2, 2014)

After being asked to do this talk, I was concerned. What can I say to a room full of All-Stars? Then I realized that I do have a very important message and it?s one that only I can deliver. It?s the story of how I?m trying to follow God?s plan for my life even though, on the surface, it doesn?t make sense. It?s a message that I hope will inspire you to continue doing what you?re doing and to remind you that ?with God, all things are possible?! As the author of ?A Worrier?s Guide To The Bible? and ?From Fear To Faith? and someone who travels around the country speaking about overcoming anxiety, I feel a little funny admitting this, but?

I have a BIG FEAR!

What makes me feel a little more comfortable is that someone I admire greatly also has the same fear. I?d like to share a quote from that person and let?s see if you know who it is?

?I?m not afraid to fail, because I?ve always learned something when I failed. I?ll tell you what I?m afraid of ? and when I think about it I break into a cold sweat ? I?m scared to death of dying and having the Lord say to me, ?Angelica, this is what you might have done had you trusted more?. I?m petrified of that.?

My Story

Let me tell you my story?

I have suffered from anxiety from the time that I was very young. I am a hypochondriac, a coward, I love comfort and I am not a risk taker. I am a cradle Catholic who up until late 2004 (with the exception of a few brief periods) was very lukewarm about my faith and had no personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I went to Mass each week and was too lazy to even pursue other denominations. In late 2004, a mystery ailment scared me and I thought that I was going to die. I knew that I wasn?t a good Catholic and was afraid to be judged. I was determined to learn more about my Catholic Faith. I began to listen to EWTN Radio, watch EWTN TV, attend daily Mass and pray the Liturgy of the Hours.

A couple of interesting things happened?

I felt great peace even though I still thought I was going to die.

I started out thinking I was going to learn more about my Catholic Faith and become a better Catholic, but I also ended up meeting and growing to love JESUS CHRIST!

Eventually, the symptoms went away and no diagnosis was ever made. I resolved never to go back to my lukewarm way of life.

In 2008, I felt the need to share what I learned with other lukewarm Catholics and FollowingTheTruth.com was created. I started blogging, doing numerous EWTN radio/TV programs and signed a contract to write a book, all while working full time as a project manager. I began to feel a call to work full time for the Lord and went on numerous Church related job interviews, getting turned down for each one. My wife Eileen and I prayed that I could work full time for the Lord, however, we thought that it would be in some sort of traditional job.

In January 2012, our prayers were answered in an unexpected way. I was laid off! For the first time in 30 years, I was not collecting a weekly paycheck.

Eileen and I prayed about it and reached the decision that I should do the ?impossible? ? become a FULL TIME Catholic Evangelist. In my mind, it was ?impossible? to make a full time living and support my family as a Catholic Evangelist, but this is what I felt the Lord was calling me to do. The first year was difficult for me, as I struggled to obtain paid speaking engagements. Fortunately, we had some savings. I continued to pray and asked the Lord to ?let it all fall apart? if it wasn?t His will for me. New doors kept opening up, but very little money was coming in.

At The End Of My Rope

Last year, I attended this conference for the first time and I was very discouraged. I was just about out of money, had very few speaking engagements lined up and spoke to several of you saying the same thing:

?My apostolate is on life support. Anything you can do to help me get more speaking engagements would be greatly appreciated?.

When I arrived home, I spoke with my spiritual director and he thought that maybe the Lord was telling me that it?s time to move on and get a more traditional job. He told me to pray about it and give it a little more time. I decided to take a ride to one of my favorite places, The Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA. As I sat in front of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and glanced at the image of Our Lady with the Baby Jesus, a very strong message came to me:

?It?s going to be okay?.

While I still didn?t have any new speaking engagements or guarantees, I left there feeling that I was doing what God wanted me to do and things would somehow work out for me.

Mother Angelica To The Rescue

I decided that I should finally read Mother Angelica?s biography so that I could look for signs that I was on the right or the wrong track. After all, she was asked by the Lord to do ?the impossible? and maybe I could learn from her story. Before I read the book, I assumed that everything always worked out perfectly as she built EWTN. I thought that if God wants you to do something, then everything just falls into place. I thought that if you run into problems and that you don?t get a lot of donations or if you?re not booked solidly for the next year then the Lord is telling you it?s time to move on. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Mother Angelica failed sometimes. I also learned that the network that the network was on ?life support? many times. The most important lesson that I learned from Mother is that quitting is not an option. I asked myself the question, “Did I really give it my best shot?” I kept saying I did, but did my actions support my words?

I needed to make sure that I truly ?gave it my best shot?and realized that there were still some things that I could do. I started mailing books, letters, making phone calls and networking. I also kept praying and asking Our Lady and Our Lord for guidance. By the grace of God, I am still working in full time ministry. We live month to month, but my family and I have never been more peaceful. We are all learning what it means to TRULY trust in God and I will not quit. I?m willing to fail or be defeated, but I won?t quit until I have done all that I can.

If God Brings You To It, He Will See You Through It!

Many of you know this, but I?m going to say it anyway. The fact that I?m able to be here today and address you is proof that if God asks you to do something, He will give you what you need to do the job. My job (and your job) is to let Him work through us.

I also want to emphasize that I am doing something which the world says is ?impossible?. I have a business degree. I have no radio, television or writing credentials. I am a shy person by nature who has always been afraid to speak in public. On the surface what I?m doing for a living makes no sense, but somehow it?s working.

I can totally relate to Mother Angelica’s statement, ?We don?t know what we?re doing, but we?re getting pretty good at it.?

I know my work will come to an end one day, as will yours. My goal is to make sure that I don?t quit due to lack of trust. I pray every day that I will continue to say ?Yes?, just like Abraham, just like Moses, just like Our Lady, just like Mother Angelica did and just like each of you. Through my two plus years in full time ministry, I have learned a valuable lesson. It?s a lesson that I try to learn better each day. It?s a lesson that Mother learned and lived every day:

?Never put a lid on God. You can?t give God a thimble and ask for a quart. It won?t work. Your plans, your projects, your dreams have to always be bigger than you, so God has room to operate.?

Final Thoughts

Now I would like to briefly speak to each of you. No matter how successful your apostolates are, you have probably experienced moments of discouragement. You may be tempted to give up, thinking that you?re not making a difference. I?m here to tell you that you ARE making a difference and many of you have impacted my life. I?d like to speak to those of you who are involved in any way with EWTN. Mother Angelica has expressed the opinion that the whole network may have been created to help one soul. I would like to thank you for being a part of that network and to let you know that EWTN has saved my soul. Without EWTN, not only would I not be addressing you today, but I would never have gotten to know Jesus personally.

Thank you for saving my life, Mother Angelica. I will continue to do my best to continue your work of bringing souls to Jesus Christ. May you rest in peace.

“You may be the only Jesus your neighbor will ever see.” (Mother Angelica)
