What Does God Want Me To Do?

Catholic Speaker and author Gary Zimak announces his latest book - Faith, Hope and Clarity from Servant Books

Great question, right? Over the years, I have felt that I was being called to do many things…

– Get married

– Become a priest

– Become a permanent deacon

– Change jobs

– Get more involved in my parish

– Work for a parish or diocese

– Pursue full time ministry

– Quit full time ministry

– Sell my house

– Adopt a child

As I struggled to determine what God wanted me to do in each of these cases, I learned a thing or two. To be totally honest, I continue to learn things about the discernment process every day. Sometimes following God’s will involves taking a radical step, but often it just involves accepting what happens in your daily life. Based on my personal experience, however, I now have a much clearer idea of the steps that can be taken to hear God’s voice. I’ve also learned that trying to discern God’s will isn’t something that should be done once or twice in a lifetime. Rather, it’s something that we should do every day. Fortunately, with a little practice, we can often do this without too much thought (especially when it comes to every day decisions).

My latest book – Faith, Hope, and Clarity: How to Know God’s Will is now available for pre-order (see the link below) and will give you a set of steps to assist you in following God’s will – today, tomorrow and for the rest of your life. I use the material contained in this book every day and I’m confident that following these steps will allow you to hear God speak more clearly to you.

Next week, I’ll begin sharing endorsements for the book from notable Catholic personalities. Stay tuned!

Looking For A Copy Of The Catechism?

For those of you who are following my nightly walk through the Catechism of the Catholic Church on my radio show, HERE is the best place to get your copy or view it online. I personally think it’s good to have a paper version of the book, but many people like to read it online (or use both). No matter how you read it, it’s a GREAT book!

Announcement Number Four – My Journey To Jesus!

Catholic Speaker Gary Zimak tells his conversion story on EWTN TV's The Journey Home with Marcus Grodi

Here’s my final announcement (for this week, anyway!)

As many of you know, I am a cradle Catholic and I have attended Mass every Sunday for as long as I can remember. Given that information, it may come as a surprise if I tell you that for most of my life I never knew Christ personally, worried constantly, rarely prayed and made no effort to live out my Catholic Faith in the world.

On January 26 at 8 PM Eastern, you’ll have a chance to hear my conversion story as I visit Marcus Grodi on the EWTN TV series, The Journey Home. I hope you’ll be able to watch the show, especially if you’re eager to have a closer personal relationship with Jesus. No matter how distant the Lord seems to you, He is closer than you think and He wants to be your friend. Tune in on January 26 and let me share my story with you!

Announcement Number Three – My Most Ambitious Project Ever!

Catholic Speaker Gary Zimak will begin discussing the Catechism of the Catholic Church on his BlogTalkRadio show

Happy New Year! Here’s the third in a series of four announcements that I’ve been making all week…

Wouldn’t it be great if we could get to know God better in 2015? Have you ever wished that you could know Jesus personally and ask Him to become intimately involved in every area of your life? Do you sometimes feel that you should know more about the teachings of the Catholic Church?

Here’s some good news for you. The Catechism of the Catholic Church will help you with each of those areas. Unfortunately, the size of the book (900+ pages) and our busy schedules can easily make us believe that it’s not practical to read through it. No problem!

On January 5, 2015 on The Gary Zimak Show on BlogTalkRadio I will begin walking through the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Together, we’ll discuss this great document for 30 minutes each night. I’ll start at the beginning and keep going until I reach the end. Whether you’ve read the Catechism before or never even looked at it, I can promise you that you’re going to hear the contents presented in a new and practical way. I’ll make every effort to ensure that you have a better understanding of God, a better relationship with Christ, a clearer understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church and the ability to apply them to your daily life. I hope you can tune in on Monday, January 5 at 8 PM Eastern. All programs will be archived and can be downloaded from my BlogTalkRadio page and iTunes. See you on Monday!

Announcement #4 is coming tomorrow…

Continuing with my series of special announcements, on January 5 I’ll be visiting Johnnette Benkovic on her EWTN television series Women Of Grace. All week, Dr. Greg Popcak and I will be discussing an important topic – Help…I’m Worrying Myself To Death! If you’re someone who is looking to escape from worry and stress, don’t miss this 5 episode series (Jan 5-9, 2015). I had a great time taping the shows and I’m confident you’ll enjoy them!

Talking About Mary On Catholic Community Radio

Catholic Speaker Gary Zimak on the Wake Up show on Catholic Community Radio

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Wake Up! program in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Each morning Jeff Blackwell, Johnny Hebert and Karen Hornsby do a great job providing a dose of news, faith and fun. Today (direct from my home in New Jersey) I was able to join my friends in Louisiana to discuss the Blessed Mother. Our topic was “What If Mary Said, ‘No’?” and you can listen to the segment here.

Stay tuned, because I’m about to announce some very exciting news about something that I’ll be working on with the Wake Up crew. I think you’ll be pleased!

My Journey Home

Catholic Speaker Gary Zimak discusses his conversion with Marcus Grodi on The Journey Home on EWTN TV

Yesterday I had the great pleasure to film an episode of EWTN’s The Journey Home with Marcus Grodi. Even though I am a cradle Catholic and never stopped going to Mass on Sundays, I was completely lost for many years. I didn’t know Jesus personally and was miserable. What changed, you may ask? It wasn’t the Lord, because He was always calling me. Rather, it was me who changed.

Due to a variety of problems and situations that developed over the course of forty years, I finally started paying attention and responded to the Lord’s offer of friendship. I revealed lots of details in this sixty minute interview that I’ve never discussed publicly in the past.

Tentatively, the show is scheduled to air on January 26, 2015. I hope you’ll be able to tune in. I’d love to share with you the story of how I got to know Jesus.

The Advent Radio Retreat Begins On Monday…Are You Ready?

Catholic Speaker and Author Gary Zimak is preparing to host his annual Advent Radio Retreat

Jesus said to his disciples: “Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)

Are you ready to meet Jesus? Not only when He comes again in glory, not only at the end of your life, but TODAY? Advent is a time of preparation. It is a chance to do some housecleaning so that we’re ready to open the door when Jesus comes to visit. On Monday (December 1), I’ll once again be leading my annual Advent Radio Retreat on The Gary Zimak Show on BlogTalkRadio. There is no cost, nothing to buy, only takes 30 minutes a night, and you don’t even have to leave your home!

The world tells you that you have to start preparing for Christmas by shopping, partying, cleaning and baking. The Church reminds us that we also need to prepare for Jesus. I know it’s difficult, but time spent with the Lord is never wasted. I hope you’ll be able to join me on Monday at 8 PM and I’ll even save a chair for you. You can listen to the show by visiting my BlogTalkRadio page or my website.

Could this be your last Advent? Maybe, or maybe not. If you treat it like it is, you have nothing to lose!
