The Parable Of The Dragnet

On today’s episode of Following The Truth, we discussed the Parable of the Dragnet:

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. (Mt 13:47-50)

As is seen in all of the parables, what appears to be a simple story actually has a profound message. Two very important lessons to take away from Our Lord’s parable:

1. We will ALL be judged one day.

2. The Church consists of people (“fish”) who do good and people who do evil. These “fish” won’t be sorted until the General Judgment when Our Lord comes again in glory. Therefore, don’t be surprised when some members of the Church (even the clergy) do things that are evil.
