On May 13, 1917 The Blessed Mother made the first of several appearances to 3 children in Fatima, Portugal. Her message included conversion of heart, repentance from sin and a dedication to her, especially through praying the Rosary. Today the Church officially celebrates the memorial of this event.
While not obligated to believe these apparitions, I would encourage all Catholics to open your hearts to Our Lady?s message. May is the month traditionally dedicated to Mary and it would be the perfect time to begin saying the rosary. As our late Holy Father, Pope John Paul II stated in his Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae, ?To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate with Mary the face of Christ.?
