Give Up Worry for Good Week 2, Day 5

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up. (Daniel 3:17–18)

The God we serve IS ABLE to deliver us from it…

Having enraged King Nebuchadnezzar by refusing to bow down to his golden idol, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were given an ultimatum. They could either worship the false god or be cast into a fiery hot furnace. Refusing to worship the king’s false god, the three men boldly proclaimed their belief in God’s power.

Here’s what I wrote in Give Up Worry For Good...

Not only did they believe God could save them, but also they were willing to trust him even if he chose not to! How in the world do you get to the Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego level of faith? As we discussed yesterday, the first step is believing that God can fix your hopeless situation. The second step is to look at a crucifix and think about the love that it represents. You’ll soon be on your way to trusting him even if he doesn’t give you exactly what you want.

All this week, we’ve been focusing on God’s power. He is bigger than whatever crisis you’re facing right now. He will either take it away or bring good out of it. Are you willing to choose to trust Him?
